It has an actual ‘ON/OFF’ switch so you can choose to turn it back off. While it is on, the temperature does not stay a set temperature. Sometimes the water will cool off a little to be more lukewarm but it does a good job of keeping the water warm.

About Improved Heating Element & Thermostat

The Heating Element:

Wattage of original heating element is 45W. After a period of time some users told a thin layer of ice formed over the bowl in -4℉ of winter. We improved the heating element to 100W to adapt this temperature or colder weather.

Thermostat:

Built-in thermostatic control automatically turns the heating element on when the temperature approaches freezing, keeping the 1.3 gallon bowl’s contents unfrozen and drinkable.
